Promoting Vietnam – Kazakhstan trade and investment cooperation
Within the framework of the 11th Session of the Vietnam - Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Joint Commission taking place on May 16, 2024 in Astana, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam coordinated with the Ministry of Trade and International Integration of Kazakhstan to organize a seminar on trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

At the event, there were nearly 70 delegates, including leaders of Kazakhstan's trade promotion agencies, Kazakhstani businesses, and representatives of Vietnamese ministries, sectors, and large enterprises, such as Sovico and Mareven, co-chaired by Minister Nguyen Hong Dien and Kazakhstan's Deputy Minister Kairat Torebayev.

In his opening speech, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien emphasized Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements, such as becoming one of the 40 countries with the largest economies in the world, with import-export turnover of over 700 billion USD and a growth rate of 8.03% in 2022. Notably, despite the general difficulties of the world economy, in the first 4 months of 2024, Vietnam's economy still grew by over 6%.

Vietnam also stands out in attracting FDI, being among the top 15 countries attracting the best FDI, with free trade agreements with nearly 70 countries and territories. The Minister emphasized the importance of international cooperation, especially with partners like Kazakhstan in exploiting raw materials, innovating, and training human resources for sustainable development.

In his speech, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien also called on businesses from Kazakhstan and the Central Asian region to expand their investment in Vietnam, and invited Vietnamese investors to Kazakhstan to explore cooperation opportunities, as Kazakhstan has great potential and cultural similarities. He emphasized that the success of foreign businesses in Vietnam is the common success of the country, and encouraged Vietnamese businesses to quickly take advantage of investment opportunities in Kazakhstan to jointly develop the economy and promote bilateral cooperation.

At the Dialogue, Deputy Minister of Trade of Kazakhstan, Kairat Torebayev, emphasized that Southeast Asia is a potential and promising market for Kazakhstan. Vietnam is an important partner of Kazakhstan in Asia, with increasingly stable and developing relations. The Joint Action Plan for 2023-2025, signed after the official visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in August 2023, aims to promote economic, trade, investment, agricultural and air transport cooperation between the two countries.
