Preparing your child for a swimming trip
Swimming is a beneficial and enjoyable activity for children, especially for cooling off on hot days. To ensure safety and help children play confidently, parents need to prepare some essential swimming equipment. Nowadays, the world of swimwear and accessories for children is very diverse, offering parents many choices in terms of style, color, and age-appropriate preferences.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tuyen, residing in Hung Phu ward, Can Tho city, said: “Recently, the weather has been hot, so I take my children to the swimming pool to cool off in the afternoons after school or on weekends. To ensure their safety while playing, I equip them with swimwear and accessories. There are now many designs of children's swimming products available, and shopping, whether in person or online, is very convenient!”

According to observations at several swimwear and swimming accessory stores for children in Can Tho City, the current market for children's swimwear and accessories is very diverse in both style and type. The products are not only aesthetically pleasing but also designed to suit the preferences of different age groups. In particular, the wide range of prices gives parents more choices to suit their budget while still ensuring their children are fully equipped for water activities. Among the products that parents are most interested in buying are swimwear, swimming goggles, swimming floats, and swimming caps.

A swimsuit made from safe, stretchy material allows children to move comfortably in the water. Swimsuits on the market are mainly made from nylon, polyester, spandex, etc., which offer good stretch, a snug fit, are lightweight, durable, and quick-drying. In terms of style, one-piece swimsuits are popular because they fit snugly, allowing children to swim and splash freely without worrying about the swimsuit shifting. Two-piece swimsuits usually consist of a swimsuit top and matching bottoms, either short or long. This design is more convenient, like regular clothes, making it easier for children to put on and take off. Boys can opt for simpler, more streamlined swim shorts or capri pants. Girls also have the option of fashionable and stylish two-piece swimsuits.

Boys' swimwear tends towards active and sporty styles with colors like blue, red, black, yellow, and brown, featuring superhero, car, and ocean-themed prints. Girls' swimwear offers a wide variety of adorable designs, from active and sporty to elegant and princess-like, with ruffled details on the shoulders, waist, or hips as accents. Popular colors include pink, purple, orange, and light blue, with floral, princess, and cute cartoon character prints. Swim shorts cost around 50,000 VND each; swimsuit sets cost around 250,000 VND each.

Swimming goggles are essential for protecting children's eyes from chlorine and bacteria in the pool and helping them confidently open their eyes underwater. On the market, children's swimming goggles are usually categorized by design and lens type, with prices ranging from 90,000 to 350,000 VND per product. Traditional swimming goggles are the most common, designed to fit snugly around the child's eye sockets. This type is lightweight, offers less water resistance, and is inexpensive. Mask-style swimming goggles have a larger design with silicone edges that adhere to the forehead and cheekbones. The advantage of this type is a wide field of view and leak-proof design. Regarding lenses, there are clear, light-colored lenses that provide a realistic vision, suitable for use in covered pools or swimming at night. Dark, mirrored lenses, similar to sunglasses, reduce glare and offer UV protection, suitable for outdoor pools during the day. Prescription swimming goggles are specifically for children with refractive errors. These lenses are available in various prescription strengths.

For children who are new to water or don't know how to swim, swimming floats are a "companion" that helps them stay afloat, creating a sense of safety and confidence when learning to swim or playing in the water. There are many different types of swimming floats, each with its own characteristics and purpose. Besides the traditional life vest, the market also offers arm floats that cover the upper arms, providing comfortable space for children to learn proper arm movements while still preventing them from sinking. Round swimming floats help children stay stable in the water, allowing even non-swimmers to enjoy themselves. Swimming boards are also essential for beginners to maintain balance and improve leg technique while swimming. Swimming floats come in many colors and cute patterns, priced around 150,000 VND per product, depending on the type.

In addition, depending on needs and budget, parents can equip their children with some extra items for swimming. For example, silicone swimming caps help protect hair and ears from water, costing around 70,000 VND/piece. Bath towels absorb water quickly and keep the child warm as soon as they get out of the water, costing from 60,000 to 180,000 VND/piece. For children under 3 years old, when participating in pool activities, parents should provide swim diapers to maintain hygiene. Some popular brands include Huggies, Pampers, Moony, Goon... priced from 15,000 to 35,000 VND/piece...

Parents can find swimwear and accessories at supermarkets, baby stores, or sports equipment stores in Can Tho City. These products are also quite popular on e-commerce platforms and social media, offering a wide variety of designs and prices. Regardless of the shopping method, parents should carefully research the product and choose reputable sellers that offer quality and safe products for their children.
