Vietnam’s Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has urged provinces nationwide to speed up the harvest of early winter-spring rice while intensifying pest and disease prevention efforts for late-season crops. As weather conditions become increasingly unpredictable, agricultural authorities are emphasizing the need for swift action to protect rice productivity and minimize potential losses during one of the country’s most important growing seasons.
Along the southern bank of the Thu Bon River in Duy Nghia Commune, Da Nang, more than 1.5 kilometers of the An Luong embankment has suffered severe erosion, leaving hundreds of households living in growing fear even during the dry season. Although authorities officially declared a natural disaster emergency following catastrophic damage in late 2025, residents remain trapped in uncertainty as no permanent solution has yet been implemented. With the 2026 storm and flood season approaching, the erosion crisis at An Luong has become not only an environmental issue but a pressing public safety challenge requiring immediate, long-term intervention.
Vietnam’s agricultural authorities are calling for immediate and aggressive intervention as bamboo locust infestations begin spreading across multiple northern and central provinces, threatening crops, forestry resources, and local livelihoods. According to the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, bamboo locusts have recently emerged in Cao Bang, Lang Son, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, and Quang Tri, with signs that the outbreak could intensify rapidly if not contained early. As eggs continue hatching and locust populations expand, experts warn that delayed response could allow the pest to develop into a broader regional agricultural crisis.

The project to develop and replicate new rice varieties of the Quang Ngai Seed Center has achieved many important successes in improving productivity, quality and income for farmers in the locality and neighboring areas.
The study calculated and forecasted that the total amount of biogas that can be produced from Vietnam's agricultural wastes will increase significantly over time.
LAVI Institute of Seeds and Agricultural Technology, Ho Chi Minh City, has implemented a project to collect, preserve and select elite dragon fruit varieties to meet production needs and replace current substandard seed sources.
The project team focused on researching and perfecting lotus breeding processes suitable for flower, seed, shoot and root groups, and also developed techniques for cultivating, harvesting, processing and preserving lotus products to improve productivity and quality.
A group of scientists in Hau Giang have successfully researched and developed technological processes to process lemon essential oil and concentrated lemon juice from surplus lemons that do not meet export standards.
On June 18, 2025, the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Agricultural Park and the Department of Science and Technology of Cao Bang province held a launching ceremony for the Innovation and Startup Competition in the field of high-tech agriculture in 2025.
