Status and solutions to redress dropout at elementary and secondary schools in My Tu District, Soc Trang Province.

Study executed by BA Nguyen Van Hoa, Department of Education on My Tu district, Soc Trang province from 6/2005 to 02/2006 to find out the causes leading to elementary school and high school dropout on My Tu district, to set out feasible solutions to overcome the status.

This study was carried out based on the methodology of dialectical materialism and historical materialism; the social studies methods, statistical methods, analysis and synthesis.
Through a survey in 50 primary schools and 14 secondary schools in the district of My Tu showed that dropouts have a relationship with the economic situation - the local society. The number of dropout school in year through is popular in many places, that is concentrated in ethnic minority villages, deep rural areas, the majority of the poor. On the other hand, it is also due to the difficult economic conditions, families without access to good care of their child's learning. This is both objective factors but also has a subjective element. In terms of school responsibilities, authorities and other organizations have not focused to overcome the dropout. Therefore, the proposed solution is usually time solutions to cope and overcome what has happened.
With practical status, to overcome the dropouts, it is needed to be aware of and better solutions. Accordingly, each school, each locality must understand the subject from students; timely detection and active measures to overcome the dropout. To do so, the Party Committees and local governments should strengthen their direction; each family sets the study plan for their children, the school must do a better job managing students, timely it is coordinated between the family and society in preventing dropouts.
