Probiotics turn straw into compost
For rural areas, people are burning condition; uncontrolled discharge of straw after harvest to canal, causing road dust, pollution, obstructing traffic, which are urgent problems.

To overcome this situation, in 2011, the Department of Science and Technology of Hai Duong province in conjunction with provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment framework proposals for organizing the disposal of rice straw after harvest surplus into organic fertilizer by biological products for agriculture 2011-2015.

The method of straw treatment with probiotics into organic fertilizer in  production is based on the principle of additional strains of microorganisms with the capable of rapid and radical straw, stubble after harvest into organic fertilizer micro-nutrient, is perfectly safe products for humans and animals.

Probiotics are most commonly used FITO BIOMIX-RR-Stock Company Hanoi biotechnology production has been patented utility solutions HI-2010 number of the National Office of Intellectual Property - Ministry of Science and Technology.

For every ton of rice straw was incubated with preparations 0.2 kg, 3 kg of NPK fertilizer and 50 liters of water so that moisture levels over 80%. Spread straw in layers, each layer is 30cm thick watering solution preparations at once dissolved and sprinkle thin NPK fertilizer, which can add manure. Then, cover the entire pile with nylon to ensure hygiene, keeping moisture and heat.

To make straw more chips and make the distribution of microorganisms that are required to supplement regular watering to maintain moisture, mix between place and space decomposition is not the first decompose after 10-12 days, way a second time 10 days.
After 30 days onwards may conduct quality control division, if the guarantee requirements can bring into use.

In preparation for the implementation of the project, Center of Application & Scientific Equipment in collaboration with the provincial People's Committees of districts, towns and cities held 138 training courses for 13,950 households respectively ; extensive propaganda through group and people media, supporting more than 10.5 tons of free products.

After 1 year of implementation in 124 communes in 12 districts, towns and cities in the province, the above method has obtained positive results, not only make use of waste but also help farmers to save the land, environmental protection and contribute to sustainable agricultural production as well.

In 2011, the amount of straw that has been treated in the province is 43,844 tons, 46.9% planned and accounted for 12.3% of total straw surplus in the province.

Households comply with the technical process, after 35-40 days of straw basically decompose into organic fertilizer with good quality, widely used in agriculture, increase crop yields, there are some place up to 3%. Some local effectively did  such as Tan An - Thanh Ha, Thai Hoa - Binh Giang, Le Hong - Thanh Mien ...

Straw processing model with biological products of Hai Duong province has received extensive attention. In 2011, the inter-ministerial working group of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Science and Technology visited and worked in some localities of Thanh Ha district on this model.

In the future, Department of Science and Technology of Hai Duong continue studying, complement this project, guidance staff and people using biological products in more efficient way to move forward in 2015, the province, there will be no burning phenomenon, no longer uncontrolled discharge of litter on roads, irrigation causing landscape and affecting environmental hygiene. /.
