Before this method could run, the field leveling has occurred for a long time ago, the farmers try to smooth the surface with rudimentary tools in the small area.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, Phong Thanh Dong A commune, Gia Rai district said: “My family has leveled the field for long time ago, recently the laser help us so much, though the cost is still so high but once the works were done which take us 3-5 years to level them again.

According to authority, leveling the field could help to reduce large amount of rice variety, water, fertilizer and keep close control of grass growth and water level, help  rice productivity get higher from 0.5-1.5 ton/hectare. Moreover, this could help combine harvester machine to work easier.

Currently, field leveling is still at small scale because of high investment cost, the prices range is about 8-10 million VND/hectare so farmer try to level the field with available machines and tools . This makes the leveling become far rougher than laser method.

Bac Lieu functional units currently encourage farmers to take part in large scale field model. When this project runs, field leveling will plays important role to put this model into real life. Field leveling not only reduces investment cost but also it puts mechanization into production.
