From the early successful initiation, a long with native fragrant rice varieties rose consumption, in the rice season of 2013 – 2014, Soc Trang has been producing the rice in the large scale under enterprise’s orders.

Accordingly, Binh Dien Fertilizer Stock Company and Hop Tri Agricultural chemistry Company supported technical solutions. OM6976 rice varieties in the sample field gained high productivity and quality, so it was entirely sold for Thanh Tin company.

From the early achievements in the sample field, in the coming seasons, many districts in Soc Trang province confidently maintain and expand with larger scale associated with enterprises. In season of 2013, there were 8/11 districts in Soc Trang province, implemented 104 sample fields with total area of 11.591 ha, increased 697 ha in comparison with season of 2012 – 2013.

According to Soc Trang Agriculture and Rural Development Department, fragrant rice consumption is becoming more increased in domestic markets as well as export. Therefore, the area of rice in MRD increased rapidly.

Soc Trang province has advantages of soil, high productivity rice varieties that is favored by consumers. That helps farmers rise income.
