Raising cows in an enclosure for manure, taking manure to feed worms and taking worms to feed ells. This enclosure model offers 300 million VND every year of Mr. Vu Van Hoa, a farmer lives in Group 12, Thang Long hamlet, Bac Son Commune, Hung Ha district, Thai Binh province.

Guiding us to visit his model, Mr. Hoa said, in the early of 2010, he invested facilities and 3 couples of cow for breeding. Meanwhile, he took a visit to Ba Vi Cow and Pasture Research Centre to learn experiences, his cow herd totally has 10 cows till now. Through accounting expenses and interest, he always gets over 1 million/cow/month.

In spite of having Biogas vault to treat wastes, however, a large amount of wastes, surrounding environment might be influenced. Thus, Mr. Hoa decided to raise worms to treat these wastes, the systems began with 2x2 m2 at first time, later expanding to 200 m2.

“It is very simple to build worm raising facility, with a higher bit than the ground is filled with water, this can be used with plastic tray or plastic tub in order to drain easier, surrounding is covered to keep away from sun, rain and insects.”

The use of agricultural wastes was put into cultivation, offers his family great incomes. Farmers in Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Hai Phong and so on are eager to learn his experiences and look for breeding worms. Apart from selling breeding worms, he also used worms to feed chickens, ducks. Worm manure is used to fertilize rice and vegetables.

Model of raising Cows-Ells-Worms offers his family about 25 million VND/month. In the next few months, Mr. Hoa will take a visit to the South to buy breeding eels and expand terrestrial farming area.
