Seedless pomelo created by nuclear technology
To create a variety of seedless pomelo, researchers have put over 1,000 branches of pomelo onto Dalat nuclear reactor.

In 2007, Dalat Center of Nuclear Research collaborated with Southeast Fruit Research Center – Dong Nai Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to use nuclear power for creating a new variety of pomelo.

Over the past 5 years research, the project of implementation Dong Trieu Pomelo (Dong Nai) has approached positive results.

According to Dong Nai DOST, the new method created 3 varieties of pomelo as they put over 1,000 branches of pomelo onto nuclear reactor, and radiated with 60 cobalts.

After radiating process, 1,000 branches of pomelo were then attached to 1,000 grapefruit trees in order to select a preeminent variety. There are 3 varieties of selected seedless pomelo from 1,000 grapefruit trees including: ĐLC240, ĐLC434 và ĐLC436. Currently, Dalat Nuclear Research Center has reported that Dong Trieu pomelo is a well-known fruit with confirmed trademark.

According to scientists in field of nuclear energy, this initial success in using high agricultural production technology in Dong Nai DOST offered positive results. Promisingly open a way to develop agriculture activities in our country.
