Research: Produce biodiesel from waste grease

Research team from Ho Chi Minh University of Agriculture and Forestry and Institute of Environment and Natural Resources searched a way to produce biodiesel from waste greases. The research was conducted at Park Hyatt Saigon hotel.

Research content aims to look for optimized metabolic reaction to turn waste greases into biodiesel.
Examine factors in turn are: time reaction 60, 90, and 120 minutes; alkaline catalyst content (NaOH) 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 g; mol rate (MeOH) 4:1, 5:1, 6:1, 7:1; temperature reaction time is fixed at 600 C.
Research showed that in laboratory conditions optimized time for a reaction is 90 minutes, with 4 gram catalyst concentration, and mol rate MeOH: grease is 5:1.
Grease collected from plants and animals could turn waste greases into biodiesel with 80 percent efficiency, and 20 percent crude glycerin. |
