Development of environmental Industry is one of the ways to protect the environment and fight against climate change (photo illustration).
In the morning of September 8, Ho Chi Minh Department of Science and Technology had a working session with the delegation of Vietnam Environmental Industry Association to provide information on prior directions of research, transfer and application of technology for environmental industry development the period 2016 to 2020.
In the period 2010 - 2015, nearly 50 projects in the field of environmental industry have been deployed throughout the country. Many projects have been applied in practice and offered high efficiency.
It is expected that in the period 2016 - 2020, environmental industry will be focused on investing more, particularly in basic research, biotechnology etc. Besides, the state will focus on number specific items to develop and invest instead of spreading and only stopping at amount of the current projects.
At the meeting, the delegation also wanted the Department to share about the research themes, models and projects that have been deploying in the city. Concurrently, there are objective evaluations of the effectiveness of these projects, especially some organic waste and solid waste treatment technologies of businesses operating in the city.
Mr. Pham Van Xu, Deputy Chief of Science Management, Ho Chi Minh Department of Science and Technology said the period 2011 - 2014, the Department developed an environmental protection, natural resources and climate change program. In which, there were many projects for environmental technologies. Presently, there are nearly 40 projects to be accepted and deployed applications in many districts.
In the short term, the city had a major change in the method of approving research projects. Currently, the Department is approving towards every two months. At the same time, approved projects will be funded to implement immediately and not to wait next year as previous time. |
