Survey on hypertension in pregnancy related factors and effects on mother and child in Can Tho obstetrics and gynecology hospital

Hypertension disorders in pregnancy is a complex systemic disease, causes many complications on pregnant women and the fetus. Factors such as maternal age, obesity, hypertensive history of pregnant women themselves and their family are related to gestational hypertension.

The study was done by cross sectional method to estimate a ratio and analysis of relevant factors in order to hypertension on pregnancy, define influences on mother and child with the sample size of 1.399 pregnant women in 20 weeks at Can Tho obstetrics and gynecology hospital from May 1, 2015 to February 30, 2016.

Research results  shown that there are 142 pregnant women with hypertension, accounting for 10.2% of all pregnant women; including 41.5% of pre-eclampsia and gestational hypertension accounted for 58.5%, mild hypertension accounted for 47,2%, average hypertension occupied 31% and severe hypertension took 21,8%. Some factors related to gestational hypertension were identified including maternal age <25 or >35 (OR:l,6, p-0,046), twin pregnancy (OR: 12,31, p—0,007), several times pregnancy (OR: 1,12, p=0,780), obesity before pregnancy (OR: 51,88;p <0,001), hypertension pregnancy history of the patient (OR: 36,19, p <0,001), hypertension history of their families (OR: 4,52, p <0,001) and stillbirth history (OR: 1,93, p=0,070). Maternal complications are: pre-eclampsia accounting for 44.4%, 10.5% in eclampsia, 9.8% in placental abruption; complications for children: 57.7% of respiratory failure, 33.8% in oligohydramnios, 28.5% in underweight pregnancy, 26.9% in preterm birth and perinatal mortality of 4.6%, significantly higher in hypertensive pregnant women. Hypertension in pregnancy accounting for 10.2% of all pregnant women; including 41.5% of pre-eclampsia and gestational hypertension accounted for 58.5%. Some factors related to gestational hypertension were identified including maternal age <25 or >35, twin pregnancy, obesity before pregnancy, hypertension pregnancy history of the patient, hypertension history of their families have close relation to hypertension in pregnancy with p <0,05. Gestational hypertension has severe influences on mother and child.
