Workshop of "Connecting the environmental treatment business between the Mekong Delta region and Hiroshima province - Japan"
In the morning of September 12, 2007, at the Can Tho TTC hotel, it took place a workshop of "Connecting the environmental treatment business between the Mekong Delta region and the Hiroshima province of Japan". The workshop was organized by the Southern Steering Committee, Can Tho People's Committee, Soc Trang People's Committees and Hiroshima province.


Attending the workshop, there were Mr. Dao Anh Dung - Vice Chairman of Can Tho People's Committee, Mr. Pham Quoc Viet - Deputy Director of Economic Department of Southwest Steering Committee, Mr. Kavaguchi - Head of Department of Foreign Investment, Hiroshima Department of Labor, Industry and Trade, and more than 60 representatives of businesses from Japan and the Mekong Delta region.

Speaking the opening of workshop, Mr. Dao Anh Dung - Vice Chairman of Can Tho People's Committee has raised the current situation of pollution and treatment measures in agriculture, fishery processing, waste treatment and etc in the Mekong Delta provinces. Mr. Dung hoped that, through the workshop, businesses in the Mekong Delta had the opportunity to meet the businesses of Hiroshima and Japan in general to share, and cooperate more effectively in matters of environment in the future.

Hiroshima province representatives - Japan Mr. Kavaguchi - Head of Overseas Development Investment Hiroshima Department of Labor, Industry and Trade also spoke about cooperation in the environment in the Mekong Delta. Mr. Kavaguchi expected Japan to contribute to help Vietnam in general and Mekong Delta provinces in particular to approach new technologies that facilitate environmentally friendly business and improve health.

At the workshop, representatives of Can Tho Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Soc Trang Department of Natural Resources and Environment and Department of Labor, Industry and Trade of Hiroshima province signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU), linking environment treatment businesses between two countries.

Representatives of 08 companies from Hiroshima (Aina, Ogawa Econs, Futaba Sankyo, Chugai Technos, Furukawa, Hinomaru Sangyo, Mikuniya Japan, Tromso) introduced new achievements in the field of environmental treatment. Participants discussed and exchanged the functions and techniques of new technologies.

Through the workshop, the two sides also had time to exchange, introduce and learn about the potential, products and needs of the parties, so that they can cooperate in coming time.
