At the workshop on Training and Communication on Innovation and Intellectual Property at Universities held on February 6, Dr. Tran Le Hong, Chief of Office of the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam (Ministry of Science and Technology) said, intellectual property rights are the legal foundation for the intellectual property of start-ups.

In fact, innovation is inseparable from intellectual property. According to Mr. Tran Le Hong, intellectual property is becoming increasingly important with start-ups. Therefore, the reality is that the identification of intellectual property rights and disputes is getting increasingly complicated, and startups are very vulnerable when they face with issues of law, disputes or litigations.

In addition, exclusive rights based on intellectual property rights will increase the competitiveness of start-ups, in addition to the great value, intellectual property can be a unique object to help products and services attract customers.

However, according to Mr. Tran Le Hong, there are some inappropriate perceptions of intellectual property rights. There is a status, start-ups do not invest time, money, and thinking in their intellectual property when they delay establishment; do not look up sufficiently to guarantee their rights and do not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others; There is no professional assessment of their intellectual property.
