Soc Trang developed a REDD + action plan

In the morning of May 08, Vice Chairman of Soc Trang Provincial People's Committee Le Van Hieu welcomed and worked with the delegation of IUCN on the contribution of ideas to develop REDD +action plans.

Based on the actual conditions, Soc Trang proposed REDD + implementing areas in Tran De, Cu Lao Dung and Vinh Chau districts.
On this occasion, IUCN mission and provincial departments also discussed the establishment of provincial REDD + focal points; resources for implementing activities and procedures for developing provincial REDD +action plans.
Soc Trang is one of the areas affected by climate change, salty intrusion situation has caused great damage to agricultural production. The implementation of the REDD + program is considered appropriate, contributing to the economic development of the province. Participation in REDD + to seek international support to diversify forest protection and response to climate change.
It is known that so far, 18 of 63 provinces and cities have completed the provincial REDD + action plans. |
