This popularity is further confirmed when the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam recently granted the certificate of registration of geographical indications No. 00078 for Cao Lanh mango products. Dong Thap Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is the Organization of managing this geographical indication.
Sand mango grown in Cao Lanh is actually a sand mango variety in Hoa Loc, Tien Giang. In the 1960s, with geographic location adjacent to Cai Be district, Tien Giang province, the sand mango variety in Hoa Loc was brought to local farming by Cao Lanh farmers and is increasingly being propagated wide.
Cao Lanh sand mango has a length of 120 to 162 mm, fruit diameter of 75-92 mm, pods of 0.8-1.3 mm thick, fruits with a weight of 365-580 g, fleshy ratio of 75-87 %, Brix 17-22%, acidity 0.02-0.4%, fiber ratio 0.5-0.7%, ascorbic acid content 200-350 mg / kg.
According to Decision No. 5849 / QD-SHTT of the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam, the geographic protected area includes, such as Hoa An, Tan Thuan Dong, Tinh Thoi, Tan Thuan Tay, My Tra, My Tan, My Ngai, and Ward wards. 6 and 11 of Cao Lanh City; My Xuong, My Hoi, Binh Hang Trung, Binh Hang Tay, My Long, My Hiep, Binh Thanh, An Binh, My Tho and My Tho towns of Cao Lanh district, Dong Thap province.
