In the morning of June 19, the People's Committee of Can Gio held a conference to announce and deploy the use of the trademark of Salanganes'Nest, Pineapple Fish Dryness and Can Gio Sand Mango.

Can Gio district has abundant and diversified natural conditions with fertile mangrove canals, with long coastline and large estuaries, so it has long established traditional occupations, such as fishing and  farming and planting, making salt, raising Salanganes and etc. As a result, local specialty products have been created, such as dried pineapple fish, Salanganes and sand mango. These specialties are used as gifts for tourists and well known.

However, according to Mr. Le Minh Dung, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairman of Can Gio District People's Committee, over the past time, the production of these products has not followed the food safety process, the business has not focused on branding. In addition, the situation of mixing products from other localities should affect the quality, prestige, and brand of Can Gio typical  products.

Therefore, the District People's Committee has asked and been approved by the City People's Committee to use the landmark of Can Gio to build a certification trademark for the district's typical products, such as Salanganes, pineapple dried fish and mango sand. The district has cooperated with Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City to complete the dossier to send to the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam. With the active support of the Department, up to now these products have been granted a trademark registration certificate.
