From the results of the analysis, experts pointed out that the VN84App spyware is distributed via fake websites of authorities, one of which is a fake page of the Ministry of Public Security.

Hackers trick users into accessing this website and downloading VN84App application's phone as .apk. When successfully installed, VN84App will silently collect messages, phone numbers, IMEI information and etc. sent to the hacker control server. Analyzing VN84App, experts found that the messages collected from phones were bank transactions with large amounts of billions of dong.

Commenting on the VN84App spyware, Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, Head of analysis said, VN84App is an extremely dangerous spyware, sophisticatedly designed to collect users' messages, including sensitive information, such as OTP code for banking transactions, private messages and etc. This malicious code is also designed the module to be able to perform other acts of attack in the future.

Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong also said that collaborated with the National Cyber Safety Monitoring Center (Ministry of Information & Communications), Department of Cyber Security and Crime Prevention using hi-tech PA05 (Hanoi Public Security), VN84App spy system is being prevented and processed.

Before the increasingly sophisticated tricks of hackers, experts recommend that users should be alert to strange calls related to authorities without being sure of the source, not in a hurry to follow the requirements, guide, definitely refuse to work over the phone. Users need to install copyrighted antivirus software for mobile phones to be automatically protected.
