Ho Chi Minh City National University will develop its medical faculty into a University of Health Sciences

Ho Chi Minh City National University Council (VNU-HCM) unanimously applied for the policy of developing the medical faculty into a university of health sciences, a member of Ho Chi Minh City National University.

After more than 10 years of operation, the Faculty of Medicine-Ho Chi Minh City National University has 89 lecturers, 26 leading experts in the field and over 400 practicing doctors and pharmacists; trained 1,064 students in 3 disciplines: medicine, pharmacy, denture. The medical department is also appraising to open two majors and two undergraduate majors.
Prof. Dr. Dang Van Phuoc, head of the medical department, said: “The Ho Chi Minh City National University Department of Medicine has been listed in the world medical schools list of the WDOMs (World Directory of Medical School) and is a member of IPSF. So far, the medical department has fully qualified to become a member university of Ho Chi Minh City National University.”
It is expected that by 2025, the medical department will increase the training scale to over 2,600 students and by 2030, it will train 8 undergraduate majors, including 3 new branches, namely nutrition, preventive medicine and medical technology; 16 master's degrees including internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, ear - nose - throat, oncology, biomedical sciences. |
