The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS) is a scientific association based in the state of Pennsylvania (USA) with more than 10,000 permanent members including leading scientists and experts in the field of materials, manufacturing and material processing.

The TMS Association Young Innovator Award is open to scientists under the age of 40, to recognize and honor individuals who have produced outstanding and groundbreaking scientific research on materials for 3D print production.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Minh Son was recognized by the TMS Association for his outstanding contributions to scientific research on special materials. Specifically, he has focused on developing three main directions, including: Researches on the discovery and design of alloys with good printability; combines metal science with 3D printing to create ultralight supercrystals with high strength and the ability to be programmed into smart materials; study the microstructure and mechanical properties of 3D printed alloys for critical applications in aeronautics and energy.
