Applying nanotechnology in avocado cultivation in Dak Nong
The research team of the Institute of Environmental Technology has prepared nano leaf fertilizers and nano plant protection products to help avocado trees in Dak Nong province increase productivity and reduce the rate of fungal diseases.

Dak Nong is currently one of the provinces with large avocado area and output in the country, with nearly 2,600 hectares (more than 700 hectares of specialized cultivation and nearly 1,900 hectares of intercropping), accounting for 20% of the total area of fruit trees in the region. Across the province, the average yield is 10-15 tons/ha. Avocados are grown mainly in Dak Mil, Dak Song, Dak R'Lap, Dak G'long districts and Gia Nghia city.

With its unique climate and soil characteristics, Dak Nong can grow many avocado varieties that bear fruit all year round; The fruit is large, flexible, beautiful in shape, dark yellow in color and takes a long time to ripen compared to avocados in other localities. However, the commodity value of Dak Nong avocado is still low due to not applying much science and technology in preliminary processing, preservation and transportation.

According to the research team, trace nanoparticles act as a biological stimulator. In plants, there are many biochemical processes that do not normally occur, but when there is the impact of nano-sized trace elements, they will be awakened and the plant will develop at a different level. When spraying micronutrient nanoparticles on leaves, the leaves absorb them and the plants are supplemented with the nutrients they need to grow well and produce high yields.
