Hanoi will increase spending on science and technology
Hanoi is considering registering to supplement the 2025 budget estimate for science, technology, innovation and digital transformation, ensuring a minimum spending level of 3% of the budget as required by Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo.

To promote activities in this field, on June 10, the City People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 3411/UBND-ĐMPT on the implementation of tasks of science and technology development as well as digital transformation. In particular, the Department of Science and Technology is assigned to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to organize the implementation of the Central Resolutions, and periodically summarize and report the implementation results to the Committee.

In addition, the Office of the City People's Committee shall preside over and coordinate with units to propose the implementation of Decision No. 1012/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, in order to promote digital transformation in data-based management and administration activities in the period of 2024-2025 and towards 2030. These units also need to quickly develop a set of electronic indicators to serve the management work in accordance with the city's reality and according to the instructions of the Government Office.

At the same time, the City Public Administration Service Center coordinated with the Department of Science and Technology to review and report to the Ministry of Science and Technology on the implementation of the Project on propaganda, dissemination and improvement of the quality of online public services by 2025, in order to promote the provision of comprehensive online public services in the area and achieve the targets according to Decision No. 749/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister.

The Department of Finance is required to promptly review and report to the City People's Committee on the registration of additional budget estimates for 2025 for the fields of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation. The goal is to ensure that spending in this field reaches at least 3% of the total city budget, in line with the central government's resolutions and development plans. These activities demonstrate Hanoi's determination to invest heavily in key areas, contributing to promoting the city's socio-economic development in the coming time.
