Traffic light system uses artificial intelligence in Pittsburgh (USA).
In Hanoi, since January 2025, nearly 100 traffic sensors have been installed on major roads, along with an AI system that analyzes data to predict congestion and effectively manage traffic. At the same time, Hanoi has proposed a plan to convert 94% of buses to green energy by 2031, and the goal is that by 2035, 100% of buses will use electricity or clean energy, integrating AI to reduce congestion and emissions.
Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City has also installed nearly 100 traffic sensors on important avenues, with a traffic management center system that combines data from more than 800 surveillance cameras and flexible, self-adjusting traffic lights based on AI. These systems not only help optimize traffic, reduce congestion, but also improve the operational efficiency of traffic lights, contributing to the development of smarter and more sustainable urban areas.
By vigorously applying AI, Vietnam aims for major goals, such as reducing traffic congestion, saving energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and developing electric vehicles. Expanding infrastructure and improving technology not only helps improve traffic quality but also contributes to creating tens of thousands of green jobs, towards sustainable development according to the country's slogan "green - smart - sustainable".
In the recent years, the application of AI in traffic and smart cities in Vietnam, especially in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, has developed strongly. In Hanoi, since January 2025, nearly 100 sensors measuring vehicle traffic have been installed, helping the AI system analyze and forecast traffic jams. By 2031, Hanoi aims to convert 94% of buses to clean energy, and by 2035, 100% of buses will use electricity or green energy, integrating AI in traffic management. Ho Chi Minh City has also installed nearly 100 sensors along with camera systems and self-adjusting traffic lights based on AI, helping to optimize traffic, reduce congestion and improve operational efficiency. These solutions contribute to reducing emissions, promoting the development of electric vehicles and moving towards the goal of net zero emissions by 2050, while creating tens of thousands of green jobs for the country's sustainable economy. |
