According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City, the management of fishing vessel tracking, traceability of seafood, and unloading of harvested products at fishing ports in Can Tho City are currently being carried out seriously, ensuring the fight against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing in the area.

Accordingly, Tran De Fishing Port operates 24/7 to serve fishing vessels. In the first quarter of 2026, there were 5,868 fishing vessel arrivals at the port; the volume of goods handled was 42,130 tons; Mo O fishing port saw 104 vessel arrivals in the first quarter. Most vessels arriving at the port complied with regulations by submitting fishing logs, achieving 100% compliance. The management board of the fishing ports verified the origin of seafood for processing and export businesses in accordance with Circular No. 21/2018/TT-BNNPTNT and Circular No. 01/2022/TT-BNNPTNT, verifying 19 dossiers with a production volume of 524 tons in the first quarter. The fight against illegal fishing at the fishing port was seriously implemented by the port's wharf management department in coordination with the IUU Task Force, with a total of 476 vessel arrivals and 668 vessel departures inspected. This activity helps ensure that harvested products have clearly identifiable origins and product quality.
In the coming period, the Can Tho City Fisheries sector will strengthen the management of fishing vessels, implement measures to promote the fight against IUU fishing, manage exploitation, protect and develop aquatic resources, and manage aquaculture; strengthen the understanding of the current situation, monitor and supervise 100% of fishing vessels operating at sea through the vessel tracking system (VMS), and clearly identify and strictly handle each case of violation of regulations regarding VMS disconnection... |
