Solutions to help motorbikes operate normally when flooded

A prototype of a flood-proof motorcycle has been built, in which the engine block of a Wave has been removed to install a special flood-proof module.
In the test videos, the new system has demonstrated its ability to operate stably in two main situations: when the exhaust pipe is completely submerged and when the engine block is deeply submerged. The success of this model shows the vehicle's ability to adapt and operate continuously in heavy flooding conditions.
The system operated for 15 minutes in each situation, and the results showed that the vehicle still started normally, thereby overcoming the limitations of previous temporary and ineffective anti-flooding solutions. This helps to minimize the possibility of engine failure due to flooding, contributing to ensuring smooth traffic during heavy rains or urban flooding.
In the future, the research team plans to integrate IoT technology into the system, including sensors and three pre-programmed control modes (maps) on the engine control unit (ECU). These modes will optimize engine performance in each case: normal, exhaust flooding and engine block flooding, instead of relying solely on mechanical adjustments as it does now. This research has been published in the Journal of Science of the University of Industry and Trade, No. 2/2025, opening up a new direction for anti-flooding technology for motorbikes. |
